All the INGREDIENTS we use are 100% certified organic, either from the USDA or a European counterpart (e.g. EcoCert).
We have decided not to get the "USDA 100% certified organic" certification for two very obvious reasons.
1) The USDA certification costs several thousands of dollars and takes about 3 months for each product. As a young company we believe that this money is better invested in the highest quality ingredients on the market (exclusively "100% certified organic" ingredients) and in innovative products & marketing.
2) Surprisingly for us and probably you the USDA has no real authority to certify cosmetics.
Here a USDA quote from one of many e-mail exchanges we had with them:
"...the USDA regulates the term "organic" as it applies to agricultural products, therefore, the USDA has no authority over the production and labeling of cosmetics, body care products, and personal care products that are not made up of agricultural ingredients..."
As a young company we therefore do not see the need to invest in an expensive, time consuming certification especially if the USDA does not really regulate the term "organic" for cosmetics.
We believe that using 100% certified organic ingredients, making every single product by hand, never testing on animals, using 100% recyclable packaging and donating a part of our profits is enough to be trusted by our customers.
